August 10, 2026 - Ottawa, ON – Pets Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Choi, owner and operator of multiple Global Pet Foods locations across Markham, Unionville, Stouffville, and Woodbine, and Charndeep Grewal, Vice President of Merchandising at PetSmart Canada, to its Board of Directors.

These appointments bring extensive expertise in retail operations, merchandising, customer engagement, and pet industry leadership, further strengthening Pets Canada's ability to advocate for the interests of pets, pet owners, and businesses across Canada's pet sector.

Chris Choi has been a dedicated member of the pet industry for nearly two decades. Since joining the Global Pet Foods network in 2006 and becoming a franchise owner in 2009, he has successfully expanded and managed multiple locations while building strong relationships within the communities he serves. His longstanding involvement in dog breeding, showing, and responsible pet ownership reflects a deep commitment to animal welfare and the well-being of pets across Canada.

"I am honoured to join the Pets Canada Board of Directors and contribute to an organization that plays such an important role in advancing the interests of the pet industry," said Chris Choi. "I look forward to supporting initiatives that improve pet affordability, promote responsible pet adoption, strengthen Canada's pet retail sector, and ensure pet families continue to have access to the products and services they need."

Charndeep Grewal brings more than 20 years of retail leadership experience, including senior merchandising roles with PetSmart Canada, Dollar Tree Canada, and Loblaw Companies. In his current role as Vice President of Merchandising at PetSmart Canada, he has helped shape merchandising strategies that enhance customer value, improve access to pet care products and services, and strengthen pet parent loyalty across the country.

"I am excited to join the Pets Canada Board and contribute to an organization that champions the interests of pets, pet owners, and the businesses that serve them," said Charndeep Grewal. "I look forward to lending my voice and experience to support the industry's continued success and the well-being of pet families across Canada."

"We are delighted to welcome both Chris and Charndeep to the Pets Canada Board of Directors," said Christine Carrière, President and CEO of Pets Canada. "Their combined expertise in retail operations, merchandising, customer engagement, and community building will bring valuable perspectives to our Board. As we continue advocating for pet affordability, responsible pet ownership, and a thriving pet industry, their leadership and experience will help advance our mission and strengthen our impact across Canada."

As Board Directors, both Chris and Charndeep share a passion for supporting pet families and helping the industry navigate opportunities and challenges. Chris has identified pet affordability, responsible pet adoption, tariff reduction initiatives, and support for Canada's pet retail sector as key areas of interest. Charndeep is particularly interested in contributing to advocacy efforts that serve pet parents across Canada and strengthen the long-term growth of the pet industry.

Beyond their professional accomplishments, both directors have demonstrated a strong commitment to community involvement. Charndeep has supported charitable initiatives including United Way fundraising campaigns and food bank programs, while Chris has spent many years promoting responsible breeding practices and animal welfare through his involvement with purebred dogs and companion animals.

Pets Canada looks forward to the leadership, insight, and passion that Chris Choi and Charndeep Grewal will bring to the Board as the association continues to support a responsible, innovative, and thriving pet industry across Canada.
